'The Hitman' Liam Harrison had an incredible win and a heartbreaking loss in 2022. First, he had the Muay Thai Fight of the Year against 'The Elbow Zombie' Muangthai PK.Saenchai.

After the war, he earned a shot at ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world titleholder Nong-O Gaiyanghadao. After absorbing a few leg kicks in round one, Harrison was unable to continue due to a knee injury.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Harrison said:

“This sport gives you the highest highs and the lowest lows. Obviously, the Muangthai fight was about as high as you can get, and then the rest of the year for me has been a low."

The British striker would later get surgery on his knee and is now recovering. In a recent post on Instagram, Harrison is looking pretty sharp hitting the pads. The UK-born fighter shared:

"Sunday drills with the boys working speed and power ... technique a bit sloppy but this was round 8."

Liam Harrison looking back over his 2022

'The Hitman' reflected on his 2022 in an interview with ONE Championship. The 37-year-old British Muay Thai striker explained how he felt about his knee injury, he said:

"I’m mentally strong. If anyone’s going to come back from [a second surgery], it’s going to be me."

On his injury loss to Nong-O, Liam Harrison added:

“I got injured in the Nong-O fight, I’m injured again now, and it’s gonna be a very tough road back to get myself where I want to be. Unfortunately, I think when you have 120 fights, and you fight the way I do, and you train the way I do, it was bound to happen at some point.”

Meanwhile, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao had a great year. He has now earned six consecutive world title defenses of his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship The Thai striker is planning to add his seventh at ONE Lumpinee 1 on January 20 against Alaverdi Ramazanov.

There is no timeline for Liam Harrison to return to ONE Circle. While fans would love to see the British striker back, 'The Hitman' understands that an injured knee requires a lot of rest.
