Multiple-time Muay Thai world champion Liam Harrison reposted a clip of a prior interview he did, recalling the first time he trained and competed in Thailand.

The English athlete is currently on the road to recovery following a successful knee surgery on Monday. Despite having to walk on crutches for the next while or so, Harrison has kept himself and his fans motivated with a good dose of inspiration to start the week.

Liam Harrison reposted an old interview he did with MMA star Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett, sharing one of the greatest lessons he learned while training and living in Thailand at 18 years-old: “Respect isn’t given…it’s earned.” In the clip, he shared the following story:

“When I went over there at first, I had no respect from any of the Thai’s because they didn’t know who I was. I’ve seen elite level stadium fighters run to the park, run around once, which is 3K, get a bottle of water from the water store, pore it over their head, walk back to the gym and say they’ve done 10K."

He added:

"On a morning, I would do my 10K, running back to the gym. I'm tired, they were fresh and they’d go, ‘come on Liam, sparring, come on Liam, clinching,’ and they’d just batter me every day. And it were f****** mentally draining getting that every day. But after a few months, when I started winning my fights, getting more experience, by the time I left after two years, like even with the top level guys, I were up there with them.”

Fans on Instagram were in agreement with Liam Harrsion’s message, with one person writing:

“F*ckin warrior bro. Idon'tt pay attention to many fighters, but you have something special brother. Very inspiring.”

Another motivated fan said:

“🔥 Work so hard until they can't ignore you👏👏👏”

Liam Harrison teases a return to action after having a successful surgery

Yesterday, Liam Harrison revealed to his fans that he’s planning to get back to work next week. Even soon after his surgery, Harrison is focused on getting a fight lined up. On his Instagram story, ‘Hitman’ set a timeline for his return based off of how many fights he wants to have this year.

Due to his injury, he was unable to fight on January 13 at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video as he intended to. Moreover, he turned down a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fight boxing megastar Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an exhibition match that would’ve taken place on February 25 in the UK.

The Englishman, however, remains optimistic. He promised fans three fights this year and that's exactly what he hopes to fulfill.
