Two-time world bantam and super bantam champion Luis "Pantera" Nery has a professional record of 27 knockouts (77.14%) of 35 wins, along with wins from the WBC Super Bantam championship (2020–2021), the Ring (2018), and the WBC (2017) Bantam titles.

Born on December 12, 1994, Nery had an undefeated amateur career with nine wins, five of which were knockouts. Even after turning professional in 2012, he had his first and only defeat in mid-2021, getting KOed by Brandon Figueroa in the seventh round after 31 wins.

After his defeat, he won four more times, with the most recent bout being against Frolian Saludar, which he won via technical knockout in the second round in July 2023. Earlier in 2017, after a winning bout with Shinsuke Yamanaka, he was stripped of The Ring's Bantam title due to a positive pre-fight test for zilpaterol; however, Nery justified that eating contaminated food was the reason.

A rematch was scheduled, but Nery was three pounds overweight during weigh-ins, which led to a lifetime ban from Japan for fights. Since he is due to fight Japanese undisputed champion Naoya Inueo on May 6, 2024, in Tokyo, Japan, the ban from Japan was lifted in 2024.
