However, Elliott believes the fight at UFC 246 is the most important of his career. While preparing for the fight the 33-year-old was in a car accident that left him with a minor injury.

His opponent Askar Askarov (10-0-1) hails from Dagestan and has an exciting personal journey as the partially deaf wrestler overcame every odds and has an undefeated MMA professional record. Askarov is managed by Ali Abdelaziz who also manages the cream of the UFC, including Khabib Nurmagomedov, Islam Makhachev, Zabit Magomedsharipov, Kamaru Usman, and Ottman Azaitar. He had won several titles in wrestling, grappling and MMA, including the Deaflympics wrestling title in 2017.
