Early Life and Career
Marina Alcalde Rodriguez was born in Bagé, Brazil, and has two brothers, one of whom is a two-time Parapan American Games gold medalist in swimming. In her youth, she played various sports, including football, volleyball, basketball, and handball. She became interested in losing weight and found her coach, Marcio Malko, through whom she joined a Muay Thai class in 2013 and started taking amateur bouts.
Rodriguez began her professional MMA career in 2015, primarily fighting in Brazil, and remained undefeated with a record of 9-0 before competing in Dana White's Contender Series Brazil. On August 11, 2018, she appeared in the DWCS program, facing Maria de Oliveira Neta, and won the fight via technical knockout in the first round.
Marina Rodriguez’s Career in UFC
Marina Alcalde Rodriguez made her UFC debut on September 22, 2018, in a draw against Randa Markos at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Anders. She won her next three fights against Jessica Aguilar, Tecia Torres, and Amanda Ribas, earning a Performance of the Night award in the latter.
She then faced Cynthia Calvillo to a draw, lost to Carla Esparza, and won against Michelle Waterson, Mackenzie Dern, and Yan Xiaonan. Her fight against Amanda Lemos was postponed, and she ultimately lost to her in the third round via TKO.
She lost her fight against Virna Jandiroba on May 6, 2023, at UFC 288, via a unanimous decision.
