A catchweight was used for the fight, and Font gave Vera 20% of his winnings in exchange. Vera prevailed by a unanimous decision in the match.
On February 18, 2023, at UFC Fight Night 219, Vera was supposed to take on Cory Sandhagen. On March 25, however, the fight was shifted to UFC on ESPN 43 for an unspecified reason. On August 19, 2023, at UFC 292, Vera was slated to compete against former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo. Pedro Munhoz took Cejudo's place after Cejudo withdrew in late June because of a shoulder injury.
