Martin Nguyen has no qualms about sacrificing his own limbs in order to damage those of his opponents.
The former two-division ONE world champion earned a much-needed victory at ONE Fight Night 7, defeating late-notice opponent Leonardo Casotti via unanimous decision. Following the win, ‘The Situ-Asian’ spoke to the media in a post-fight interview and delivered a message to any man who steps inside the circle with him in the future:
“To my future opponents, to my previous opponents, you know, I like to attack that leg... And there's so much you can do. You can check as much as you want, but I'm willing to break my leg by any means necessary. So that's just my style.”
Nguyen, who turned 34 years old on March 4, has now won two of his last three bouts after a tough couple of years that saw the Vietnamese-Australian star struggle to get into the win column. Hoping to emulate the success of his friend Aung La N Sang, who has seen somewhat of a career resurgence as of late, ‘The Situ-Asian’ will first take a little time away from competition to clear his mind and enjoy his family.

With time running out, it’s all-or-nothing for Martin Nguyen from here on out
Eventually, every fighter is told that they can no longer compete. For every mixed martial artist, the timing is different, but it’s a reality that all fighters have to face. Knowing this, Martin Nguyen plans to make the most of the time he has left competing among the elite.
In an interview with ONE, ‘The Situ-Asian’ stated it is essentially a win-or-go-home situation from here on out if he hopes to get back to the top of the mountain in ONE Championship’s featherweight division:
“It's always been all or nothing, no matter what. But in this case, it's a bit stricter, a bit more serious now. It's always been an all-or-nothing kind of thing now. I want to get myself back into title contention and do whatever it takes."
His victory over Leonardo Casotti was a fantastic start for Nguyen, but the competition will only get more dangerous from here on out if he hopes to work his way back to a ONE world title opportunity. Who would you like to see Martin Nguyen face when he makes his return to the circle later this year?
