Frevola put up an impressive show, put Zuckerman in a triangle armbar in the second round, and won the fight by submission. His inaugural victory set the tone for 6 consecutive successful outings of Frevola to the cage before suffering his first professional loss as a martial artist in the seventh fight of his career.

He entered Dana White’s Contender Series 8 (DWCS 8) and squared off against Jose Flores. Matt Frevola dominated Flores, finished him by second-round submission, and earned a contract at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He suffered his first professional loss against Polo Reyes when the duo locked horns with each other at UFC Fight Night: Stephens vs. Choi on January 14, 2018, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Reyes dominated Frevola and put his lights off in the initial round of the fight with a flurry of punches, taking the KO win.

Matt Frevola encountered a majority draw in his next fight against Lando Vannata at UFC 230. He secured consecutive victories against Jalin Turner and Luis Pena before suffering consecutive losses against Arman Tsarukyan and Terrance McKinney. Frevola is currently on a three-fight winning streak, having defeated Genaro Valdez, Ottman Azaitar, and Drew Dober.
