UFC News: Max Holloway says Jose Aldo needs to get his brain checked

Holloway feels ‘Waldo’ needs to get his head checked

Max Holloway is eager to fight Jose Aldo, which he reiterated in his post-fight interview following his UFC 206 win over Anthony Pettis, but he wasn’t entirely happy about Aldo’s announcement that the fight has already been scheduled for UFC 208 in Brooklyn.

In an interview on The MMA Hour, Holloway called out Aldo on his hot-and-cold nature of pulling out of fights. The ‘Blessed’ one has a valid reason to be concerned, though, as Aldo has pulled out of fights with injuries, competing just nine times in six years.

The Interim UFC Featherweight Champion wants to cement his title by beating Jose Aldo, given that the latter shows up for the scheduled date.

This is why Holloway is little apprehensive to commit to a February date because he doesn’t believe ‘Jose Waldo’ will make it.

Jose Aldo has been caught dilly-dallying earlier, when Conor McGregor picked his fight with Eddie Alvarez instead of Aldo, the Brazilian went public and stated he planned to leave MMA. This was prior to him being crowned the Featherweight Champion.

“We got Jose Waldo over here saying Feb. 11. I don’t know,” Holloway said on The MMA Hour (courtesy: MMAFighting.com).

“He wants to retire. He wants to be a soccer player. Now he’s an (expletive) matchmaker. Like I said before, the UFC needs to send his ass to the Cleveland Clinic and check his brain out. They’ve been sending me a bunch of times and my brain seems fine. I ain’t got no problems talking with you guys and doing all this (expletive).

He went on to add that he doesn’t want to give up his Christmas and his son’s birthday if Aldo isn’t going to show up.
