As UFC sets foot in Scotland with it’s UFC Fight Night 72, the headlining fight of the match was also announced. Michael Bisping vs. Thales Leites is the five-round headliner, co-headlined with Ross Pearson (17-8 MMA, 9-5 UFC) vs.Evan Dunham (15-6 MMA, 8-6 UFC).
Leites (25-4) left UFC back in 2009, to rebuild himself at the regional circuit. The Brazillian then made a comeback to UFC in 2013. Since then he has won eight straight matches. If he manages to do one over Bisping, he’ll surely get his name into the 185-pound title discussions.
On the other hand, Michael Bisping is one of the UFC’s most recognizable European fighters. Due to his erratic win-loss record, the Englishman is still looking for an elusive title shot. After a loss to Luke Rockhold by submission, Bisping came back strongly at UFC 186 by defeating C.B. Dollaway.
Coming to the three-round co-main event, The 30-year-old Englishman “The Ultimate Fighter 9″ winner Ross Pearson will be trying to continue his winning streak after his knockout win over Sam Stout at UFC 185. His opponent is the three-time “Fight of the Night” winner Evan Dunham, who ended his three-fight losing run by putting the screws to Rodrigo Damm.
Here’s what the updated UFC Fight Night 72 card looks like:
Michael Bisping vs. Thales Leites
Evan Dunham vs. Ross Pearson
Joseph Duffy vs. Ivan Jorge
Leon Edwards vs. Pawel Pawlak
Leonardo Mafra vs. Stevie Ray
Ilir Latifi vs. Hans Stringer
Joanne Calderwood vs. Bec Rawlings
Paul Redmond vs. Robert Whiteford
UFC Fight Night 72 is scheduled on July 18, 2015 inside SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. And will be aired on the FOX Sports 1 network and UFC Fight Pass.
