Finally!Nate Diaz’s win over Conor McGregor was hands down the biggest upset that came out of UFC 196. Miesha is the champion, Holly deserves a rematch, and Ronda Rousey has a rematch against Holly Holm These three women could make Dana White a lot of money in the upcoming pay-per-views but before that, we are going to take some time out to look at the lesser known facts about the new champion, Miesha Tate.

Miesha has struggled a lot to reach where she is today. She started her MMA training when she was encouraged by one of her friends. She attended an MMA club and was soon interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu courtesy of a strong wrestling background from her high school days.
During the early years of her career, Miesha was not in a good financial position and had to save big time to keep her MMA career running.
Miesha, along with her boyfriend, Bryan Caraway, who is also an MMA fighter, used to live in a motor home outside the gym that they trained. They used to save whatever amount of money they had to reach the dream that they envisioned together.
#4 She saved the life of her boyfriends mother once
Meisha is currently dating Bryan Caraway, who is also an MMA fighter as we mentioned in the previous slide. Miesha once saved the life of Bryan’s mother while they were on a holiday in Mexico. Bryan’s mother, Chris, who had a condition of asthma, went scuba diving and suffered an asthma attack in between.
Chris soon stopped breathing and became completely unresponsive before Miesha gave her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and saved her life. The incident happened back in 2014 and probably the whole event would’ve strengthened the relationship within the family.
Speaking of Bryan, he has an experience of fighting in Strikeforce, EliteXC, WEC, and of course, UFC.
#3 She almost walked away from UFC
The rivalry between Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey is an epic one. Ronda first defeated Miesha to win the Bantamweight championship and in the rematch, Ronda used the same tactic to defeat Miesha again and retain the title.
Miesha was all set to receive another shot at Ronda at UFC 193, but the match instead went to Holly Holm.
Miesha said that she could’ve walked out of UFC after the decision, but decided to stick around and wait for her turn. The wait finally paid off when she got her shot at Holly and finally has the title around her waist.
#2 Most beautiful woman in MMA
Miesha’s heroics inside the octagon are well known among the fans, but not many know about her achievements out of it.
She has appeared on the cover of Fitness Gurls magazine in its December 2013 edition and the magazine labeled her as the most beautiful Woman in MMA. Now, the same is up for debate, but getting such a label is always something worth telling.
Also, Miesha once appeared nude in the 2013 ESPN Body issue. Apart from these, she appeared in the award-winning documentary named Fight life which was directed by James Z. Feng. The documentary also boasts of stars like Nick Diaz, Frank Shamrock, Julianna Pena, and Chuck Liddell.
#1 A tomboy in her youth
Miesha spent most of her youth around boys in her neighborhood and school. When she started doing high school in Franklin Pierce, she was faced with an option of either basketball or Wrestling.
She took up wrestling and landed on the boys’ team during her freshman year.
Although her coach was not keen on keeping her on a team full of boys, Miesha’s determination and skill set made him think otherwise. She recalls getting her butt kicked during the initial days but she soon picked up the pace. In her senior year, Miesha went on to compete in the State Championship for girls and won the title there.
