After yet another heartbreaking loss to the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, this time Daniel Cormier, perennial contender Alexander Gustafsson(16-4) has been out of action since October of last year.
He also teased his retirement earlier this year on the 1st of April through a video, which was promptly revealed to be an attempt at an April’s Fool joke.
Gustafsson who shot to fame after he was widely recognized as the man to push then UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones to his limits at UFC 165, has been healing up after yet another bruising encounter with Daniel Cormier last year.
MMAfighting.com reports that he is now booked to fight Polish fighter Jan Blachowicz(19-5) at UFC Hamburg on September 3rd later this year. The card is headlined by a Heavyweight bout between two former UFC Champions in Josh Barnett and Andrei Arlovski.
The event will also feature a fight between British fighter Brad Pickett and Enrique “Henry” Briones of Mexico.
