Jorge Masvidal has been in the spotlight since earlier this year and has only gained momentum following 3 finishes including Darren Till, Ben Askren, and Nate Diaz. He became the BMF Champion at UFC 244 and is carrying a wave of momentum.
People are now interested in watching him fight again and even though he's the clear-cut next contender in line for a title shot, he doesn't seem to care about it all that much. For him, it's about the biggest paycheque and he knows that his next paycheque with "the most zeroes" will either come from Nick Diaz or Conor McGregor.
Until then, he's going to have another side gig and that's as a commentator for the upcoming Combate Americas PPV that will be headlined by MMA legend Tito Ortiz against former WWE Champion Alberto El Patron.
Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren said in a statement (via MMA Fighting).

"The UFC’s BMF champ Jorge Masvidal is joining forces with MMA’s dynamic duo of Julianna Peña and Max Bretos to form the most explosive commentary team in the sport this Saturday for the biggest fight of the year.”
It's an interesting gig for Masvidal to land as commentary is something he would likely be good at. It's a one-off, so we imagine that there wasn't much of an issue raised by the UFC. Either way, it's going to be an interesting event.
Alberto El Patron said that his return to MMA was done to repay a favor to Combate Americas following a difficult divorce that he went through. It's their first official PPV and the addition of Masvidal to the commentary booth is a big one for them - a move that may get a lot more eyeballs on the fight. It's going to be a big PPV and El Patron is understandably the underdog in the fight.
