Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), the promotion that Diego Sanchez is currently signed to, has been sanctioned in several states but not in Nevada. However, the Nevada State Athletic Commission has allowed slap fighting - a form of combat sport that is getting a lot of hate from fans and experts alike because of the high risk of brain damage and CTE.
Sanchez is now blaming his former employer for the said situation. In an interview with BJPENN.com, he stated that the UFC is exerting influence on NSAC and is actively stopping the commission from allowing BKFC.
"This is the farthest BKFC has gone West [going to Albuquerque] and of course in their expansion, of course, they want Vegas. But, UFC has the lock on that, they won’t sanction BKFC where they are combat athletes that are skilled fighters and warriors that are trained. But, they will sanction Power Slap where you got a powerlifter that is smacking the hell out of another guy giving him real brain damage."
The first season of Dana White's Power Slap League is taking place in Las Vegas and is being aired on TBS. There will be eight episodes in the Road to the Title, and the final will be held on March 11 at the UFC Apex Arena.
#2. Valerie Loureda makes WWE TV debut
Former Bellator fighter Valerie Loureda made her WWE TV debut on Friday at NXT LVL UP.
She signed a multi-year deal with the pro wrestling juggernaut after a tryout in late April last year. After nearly a year of training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Loureda taped her first TV match on Tuesday night.
However, this is not her first time inside the squared circle. Loureda, who goes by Lola Vice in WWE, made her in-ring debut this past November in a non-televised house show.
Loureda had five fights in Bellator MMA, of which she won four and dropped a decision. The WWE universe gave her a warm welcome and praised her debuting performance.
#1. Andrew Tate is not sentenced to jail for 17 years - yet
Several rumors have been making rounds on social media that claim Andrew Tate has been sentenced to jail time already. Some of the speculations say that it is 15 years, while others claim that it is 17.
In reality, Andrew and his brother Tristan Tate are yet to be convicted, let alone sentenced. Recent Facebook posts claiming otherwise have been flagged as part of the platform's efforts to combat false news and misinformation. Politifact, a fact-checking website collaborating with Meta, further confirmed the news to be fake.
However, the Tate brothers are currently in detention since their December 29 arrest on rape, human trafficking, and organized crime charges. Last week, a judge extended their custody until February 27. Tate, or presumably his PR team, has remained active on social media despite being behind bars.
In recent tweets, Tate has complained about horrific prison conditions and compared himself to Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr.
