Welcome to today's edition of Sportskeeda's daily MMA News Roundup, where we present the biggest UFC updates and other stories from the world of mixed martial arts.
In today's issue, we talk about Saturday night's main event results, new updates in the Islam Makhachev scenario, and more.
#3. Senior UFC VP reveals taking IV was never allowed in Perth
USADA rules allow fighters to take less than 100ml IV infusions within a 12-hour window under the supervision of a medical professional. This was recently made clear by the promotion in light of the accusations made by Alexander Volkanovski's team against Islam Makhachev.

However, taking IVs was never allowed at UFC 284 since the event took place in Perth, and the Combat Sports Commission of Western Australia completely bans any intravenous administration of fluid during fight week.
The information was made public by Jeff Novitzky, the Senior Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance of the UFC. However, he also made it clear that they were following the commission's statement on the matter and considering Makhachev to be free of any wrongdoing.
Check out Novitzky's comments in the interview with UFC announcer Brendan Fitzgerald below:
The WA commission released a statement to MMA Fighting, saying that there was no "conclusive evidence" that any fighter from the event had breached the rules. However, between Ali Abdelaziz's deleted tweets and Novitzky's latest comments, things surely look murky for Makhachev.
#2. Andrew Tate's current detention period ends this month
Andrew Tate is currently serving an extended detention in a Romanian prison after being arrested on charges of human trafficking, rape, and organized crime. He recently hired celebrity lawyer Tina Glandian, who has previously represented the likes of Mike Tyson and Chris Brown.
In a recent interview with LBC's Shelagh Fogarty, Glandian revealed that the expiry date of Tate's current detention period is on February 27. She added that things were not looking good for the Tate brothers, and she was not optimistic about the release.
"We're going to find out in the next several days the existing detention order expires on February 27th. And if the prosecution intends to extend that for another 30-day period, they'll have to make that request soon. And then we'll have a hearing on it. Obviously, our hope is that at this point they are released and it's not extended but am I optimistic about that? No."

#1. Erin Blanchfield finishes Jessica Andrade in Round 2
Erin Blanchfield proved her mettle at Saturday night's event and proved that she was indeed the real deal.
After Taila Santos withdrew from the UFC Vegas 69 main event, Blanchfield found herself facing former champion Jessica Andrade on short notice. However, she stepped up to the challenge and finished 'Bate Estaca' in the second round with a rear-naked choke.
With the biggest win of her career under her belt, 'Cold Blooded' stretched her undefeated streak in the promotion to five wins. As one would expect, Blanchfield aimed for the flyweight title shot in the octagon interview.
In the post-fight press conference, she added that she would love 'Bullet' to win against Alexa Grasso, as she wants to beat the current champion for the belt. Her goal is understandable, given that Shevchenko has built an aura of invincibility around her in the division.
If Blanchfield does manage to get the title shot within the next year and emerges successful, she would become the youngest female champion in UFC history.
