Umar Nurmagomedov recently sent fight fans into a frenzy after claiming he'll be fighting Merab Dvalishvili for the bantamweight title weeks after breaking his arm during training. Nurmagomedov and Dvalishvili will throw down in the co-main event of UFC 311 on Jan.19 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
In a now-deleted UFC interview, Nurmagomedov outlined how he was able to train just 20 days after breaking it and was looking forward to fighting Dvalishvili despite his teammates advising him against it. He said:
"I was in Dagestan. I punched my arm. I go to the doctor, and I showed them, they did X-ray, and they said, 'You broke it.' After 20 days, I go again, it's become much better... Everything I can do... My manager and my brother said, 'You crazy? You can't fight like that,' and they said no... I want to be active."
After @TruthfulUfcFan shared a clip of the now-removed interview in an X post, fans flocked to the comments section to express their reactions.

"Lol, he's setting up an excuse in case he loses."
Another fan theorized:
"I actually think they faked that injury, so Merab would take the bait, but indeed, they took it down so the commission does not cancel it, but 100% Umar is good. If you see the DJ video, Umar did not even have a bandage for his "wound."

Umar Nurmagomedov talks possibility of Merab Dvalishvili beating him at UFC 311
Umar Nurmagomedov recently opened up about his upcoming fight against Merab Dvalishvili and claimed he'd be shocked if 'The Machine' beats him at UFC 311 later this month. The UFC bantamweight explained that he couldn't even imagine Dvalishvili beating him and pointed out that he was a wrestling savant as well.
In the now-removed interview with Brett Okamoto, Nurmagomedov shared his thoughts on the Dvalishvili title fight and said:
"He will not [beat me]. I can't imagine how he would beat me. How? He can't hold me. Okay, maybe he will take me down one time, but if he has to hold me there. He can't. He has to punch. It's not going to be how he did always... I can wrestle, too. Don't forget about it, but I can finish. If you give me your back, I'm going to choke you. Be careful."
