While UFC 294 had spectacular moments, it was not without controversy. One such controversial bout took place between Muhammad Naimov and Nathaniel Wood. The former appeared to strike the latter in the groin twice, grab the fence, and hook his glove at different moments, however, he did not receive a point deduction.
'The Prospect' took to Twitter on Monday to voice his displeasure with the officials, stating:
"Now seeing the fight back myself I can’t help but feel super frustrated with blatant cheating, his left hands is literally grabbing the inside of my glove in the most important 10 seconds left of the fight! 2 clean groin shots, fence grabbing and then this 😡"

Wood also retweeted a video of the low blows from a fan, which was captioned:
"Robbed."

Wood went on to lose the bout via unanimous decision, as all three judges gave Naimov the first two rounds. If his opponent had received a point deduction, the bout would have ended in a draw. Furthermore, there is a possibility that 'The Prospect' could have picked up a finish if not for the actions of 'Hillman'.
Chael Sonnen believes UFC 294 doctor did nothing wrong in Magomed Ankalaev vs. Johnny Walker fight
Nathaniel Wood's bout against Muhammad Naimov was not the only bout to stir controversy at UFC 294. The main event bout between Magomed Ankalaev and Johnny Walker was ruled a no-contest after an illegal knee to a downed opponent from the former rendered the latter unable to continue.
While the doctor of the bout faced backlash for not allowing it to continue, mixed martial arts analyst Chael Sonnen believes the blame lies with the referee. The former middleweight and light heavyweight challenger tweeted:
"The Doc asked a standard question. Whether the athlete is fainting confusion or legitimately has confusion, the doctor was right to defer to the response made. The mistake here was done by the referee who should have called this a disqualification."

While UFC President Dana White was among the many viewers who felt the doctor should have allowed the bout to continue, Sonnen believes the blame lies with the referee. Walker was asked where he was, responding that he was 'in the desert', which technically was the correct response.
