Khabib Nurmagomedov reacts to Irish court ruling Conor McGregor liable for sexual assault case
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor's fierce rivalry culminated into one of the biggest fights in UFC history. At UFC 229, Nurmagomedov defeated the Irishman to defend his lightweight title. Although the rematch never materialized while 'The Eagle' was still competing, their rivalry has kept simmering.
Recently, an Irish court ruled McGregor liable for a sexual assault that allegedly took place in December 2018. McGregor has been ordered to pay €248,000 to the victim and the incident has resulted in massive backlash from the combat sports community.
A social media handle recently started a fundraiser, 'The Convict Project' to raise money for the legal fees of McGregor's 'victims'. The project was announced by @ConvictMcG on X. Nurmagomedov, who continues to be a vocal critic of McGregor, responded to the post, writing:
"Good job guys , you have my full support, this guy deserve punishment."
The court ruling has significantly impacted McGregor's brand value. IO Interactive, creators of the popular video game Hitman, recently announced that they were removing the downloadable content featuring the Irishman. Meanwhile, Proper 12 Irish Whisky has also dropped him as the face of its brand.
