Mike Tyson's former rival recently responded to reports that he will be Jake Paul's next opponent. The individual stated he would be willing to take on Paul in a boxing contest, but has yet to receive a fight proposal.
The person in question is boxing legend Roy Jones Jr., who took to his social media and posted a picture regarding the details of his potential fight with Paul, stating that the bout, which would go eight rounds of three minutes each, would take place on March 8 in Puerto Rico.
However, in the post, Jones Jr. expressed his appreciation for the 27-year-old and stated that while reports of him facing Paul are untrue, he is willing to take on the YouTuber-turned-boxer in the future, writing:
''*READ* This post has cost me many of restless nights due to people wondering. LISTEN……… I love what Jake has done for our sport. I also love the time and effort that he’s put forth to develop his craft. Being that I was Mike's last opponent before the big exhibition that they put on, I do feel like I’d probably be the most noteworthy opponent at this point.''

Jones Jr. continued:
''HOWEVER………. I have not been contacted about any of these allegations so it is NOT A REALITY at this point in time. For the record- just like in my prime, I’m always JUST A CALL “OUT” away.''
Jones Jr. previously faced Tyson in an exhibition boxing match in Nov. 2020. Their fight ended in a draw. Three years later, the 55-year-old returned to face former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis in a boxing contest in the main event of Gamebred Boxing 4 and suffered a majority decision defeat.
Meanwhile, Paul is coming off a unanimous decision win against Tyson last year.
Claressa Shields is certain that she can defeat Jake Paul
Claressa Shields is scheduled to face Danielle Perkins on Feb. 2 for the female heavyweight world championship.
Ahead of the matchup, in an interview with USA TODAY Sports, Shields expressed her thoughts on a potential matchup with Jake Paul, saying:
“It’s very strange to me that they think that a YouTuber can beat a woman boxer who has two Olympic gold medals, (multiple) world titles and fought as a heavyweight...He does not have the experience. They talk about power. You can have power, but you got to have the skills to land a punch.’' [H/t: MMA Junkie]
