"A new opportunity" - Jackie Buntan starting fresh as second world title shot vs Anissa Meksen unfolds at ONE 169

Jackie Buntan is excited to kick off a new stage of her career when she makes her long-awaited return to action under the ONE Championship banner.

The former ONE strawweight Muay Thai title challenger has already accomplished some great things in the promotion.

Though she came up short against Smilla Sundell in her first opportunity at securing strawweight gold, she has since rebounded and looked better than ever.

At ONE 169 on Nov. 8, she will compete for the inaugural ONE strawweight kickboxing world championship when she faces Anissa Meksen.

Kickstarting a new phase of her career by becoming a world champion would obviously be a great achievement for her but Buntan chooses to treat every fight the same.

She knows how important each and every outing under the ONE banner can be so she comes into each contest with the same motivation and focus.

This is something she spoke about in a recent interview with ONE Championship in the build to Nov. 8 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

"On paper, yes, this is a second chance. But every fight, whether it's a belt or if it's just three rounds, I always think of it as a new opportunity. It's a new fight. It's just as important if it's a three-round fight. It's just as important as if it were a five-round fight for a belt."
