“A night to remember” - Fabricio Andrade shares highlight photos of his world title-winning performance against John Lineker

Just over a week ago, Fabricio Andrade put on the performance of a lifetime. For four rounds, he took all that he could handle from former ONE bantamweight world champion John Lineker, turning in a Brazil vs. Brazil war in the ONE Fight Night 7 main event.

Lineker came out of the gate strong, but with each round, Andrade dished out more and more damage until Lineker’s corner called a stop to the fight after the fourth round. Fabricio Andrade won the vacant bantamweight world championship with the win, beginning a new era in the weight class.

Remembering the grueling battle, Andrade posted an album of moments from the fight to his Instagram, telling the story of the mounting damage done to Lineker that halted the fight.

Andrade’s victory over Lineker is startling due to his youth and relative inexperience in MMA, it was only his twelfth professional fight. He’ll likely want to take plenty of time off to let his body heal from the fight, as both fighters were transported to the hospital after the fight.

After a torrid fifteen months of fighting five times, Fabricio Andrade vows to return “better and stronger than ever”

Fabricio Andrade has earned a break. ONE Championship’s newest world champion just ended a furious season of fighting in rapid succession, culminating in two world title fights.

With the belt finally secured around his waist, he’s earned the right to take some time off to return at full strength win the time is right. Reflecting on his activities in ONE Circle, Andrade posted to his Instagram account about his accomplishments:

"5 fights in 1 year and three months 2 fights being for the world title, everything happening really fast and I can just be grateful for everything now it’s time to rest and soon I will be back better and stronger than ever, thank you everyone for the messages and support 🦾🇧🇷❤️"

Fabricio Andrade has only been fighting in ONE Championship since July of 2020, but since then, he’s beat top fighters like Li KaiWwen, Kwon Won Il, Shoko Sato, and Jeremy Pacatiw.

Of course, heading off the streak of madness were back-to-back world title fights with John Lineker.

Still unbeaten in the ONE Circle, now is the time for the next challenger to Andrade’s belt to emerge to set up the next showdown. Many fans believe Stephen Loman will be the next challenger for Andrade, but contender fights booked over the next few months could also produce intriguing fighters to give Andrade a challenge.
