First-ranked ONE bantamweight Muay Thai contender 'King of the North' Nico Carrillo of the United Kingdom is coming off a remarkable second-round knockout victory over Thai legend Nong-O Hama in December of 2023.
But the fight was anything but easy for the 25-year-old Scotish sensation. In fact, Nong-O dominated the first round with a very robust leg kick attack that nearly took Carrillo's feet from under him.
Carrillo wobbled around like a wounded animal with Nong-O ready to pounce at any moment, before 'King of the North' authored an improbably comeback.
Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Carrillo recounted the experience taking on a legend, and said he refused to lose that fight.

'King of the North' said:
"A sore leg was never gonna stop me from fighting. I’ve got sore legs all week, every week. So that was never going to stop me. I found my way back in round two and managed to get a great finish again."
Needless to say, Carrillo learned a lot from fighting Nong-O, which has helped him become a better fighter.
The 25-year-old added:
"A lesson I did take from it though, was from that kick. I'm really glad that it happened like that because I'm still young. I've still got 10-15 years of fighting. Now I know how it feels to get hit with that kick. So now going forward, I’ll be throwing that kick on other people because I know no one's tougher than me, so no one will probably stand."
