Jorge Masvidal's interest in launching a new cryptocurrency hasn't gone down well with his fans.
Celebrity meme coins have been a regular phenomenon in recent times. Popular content creators, from Logan Paul to UFC a-listers like Khamzat Chimaev, have launched their own meme coins.
Earlier today, 'Gamebred' teased the launch of his own pro-Donald Trump cryptocurrency ahead of the upcoming boxing clash against former MMA rival Nate Diaz.

Suffice it to say, the continuing failure of celebrity meme coins has left a sour taste in the minds of the general public, and Masvidal's proposition was meant with disdain rather than excitement.

Let me guess. Another celeb rug[pull]."

Unfortunately, Masvidal's crypto plans come at the most inopportune of moments. Earlier this week, many users lost considerable sums of money after the Chimaev-backed Smash coin lost 96 percent of its value in just 24 hours.
Before the price tanking, Chimaev had urged his fans to invest in the coin. While reports indicated that 78 percent of the coin's supply was held by insiders and developer wallets, the sudden price fall has sparked rumors of a rug pull.
Masvidal is set to take on Diaz in a 10-round boxing clash this Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim. When the pair met in the UFC octagon in 2019, it was 'Gamebred' who came away with a third-round TKO win via doctor stoppage.

Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz: Betting odds
Earlier this year, when Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz in boxing was still a rumor, 'Gamebred' had opened as a -325 favorite for the matchup, with the Stockton native as a +250 underdog.
However, with the match-up just hours away, DraftKings Sportsbook has now put the former BMF champion as a -275 favorite against Diaz (+210 underdog).
This means a successful $100 bet on the former two-time welterweight title challenger will provide a return of $136.36, while the same bet on Diaz will result in greater winnings of $310 if he gets his hands raised.
Masvidal is 1-0 as a professional boxer, while Diaz has a record of 0-1. His loss came against YouTuber-turned-celebrity boxer Jake Paul.
