Brazilian fighter Adriano Moraes is expecting an all-out war in his trilogy fight with ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson in May. With that in mind, he is coming in with a full arsenal, including his Brazilian jiu-jitsu game.
Speaking to SCMP MMA, 'Mikinho' said that his grappling could spell the difference against 'Mighty Mouse', as attested by the general success he has had in employing it.

“Yes, of course. In both fights, I put my jiu-jitsu to work, and I did well. You can check it out in my second fight, I was doing good in my jiu-jitsu. I finished the first round on the mount. The second round, I was passing the guard already and ready to go to the submission.”
Adriano Moraes lost the second fight, and the flyweight world title after being knocked out in the fourth round. The defeat leveled their head-to-head series at one win apiece. 'Mikinho' remains confident that his BJJ base will steer him back to the summit of the flyweight division.
The trilogy fight between Johnson and Moraes takes place at ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5 in Colorado. It's set to be ONE Championship's first-ever live event in the United States.
The event will be held at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield and will be aired live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Adriano Moraes training footage surfaces following Demetrious Johnson loss
Adriano Moraes is so determined to reclaim the ONE flyweight world title from now-reigning champion Demetrious Johnson that even before their trilogy fight was announced late last year, he was already back in training.
'Mikinho' lost to Johnson in their second clash for the world title in August last year at ONE on Prime Video 1, getting knocked out by a highlight-reel knee in the fourth round. It was a payback for 'Mighty Mouse', who fell to Moraes in their first encounter in April 2021.
Not much was heard from Adriano Moraes following his loss in their rematch until a video of him training surfaced on the Instagram account of ONE Championship.
The post was captioned:
“Adriano Moraes gets back to it 😤”

'Mikinho' is no stranger to bouncing back from a world title loss, having done it twice before against Kairat Akhmetov and Geje Eustaquio, who both took the belt from him only to fall to Moraes in their subsequent rematches.
