Brazilian stars Adriano Moraes and Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida have been sharpening each other's skills in the gym. Moraes says that his grappling has improved because of that.
'Buchecha' is a 17-time BJJ world champion whose success has carried over to MMA. He's unbeaten inside the Circle and has a 100% finish rate. Needless to say, he's one of the most well-rounded grapplers around.
Adriano Moraes is learning a lot by spending time with his Brazilian counterpart. 'Mikinho' spoke to SCMP MMA about what he's gaining from working with 'Buchecha':
"We come from jiu-jitsu, so it’s normal, we stay after practice and practice more like the positions and brainstorming about trading positions and techniques. Buchecha is amazing to do that. Then to barbecuing in his house and a lot of good conversations."

Moraes continued:
"We fought on the same card last time. Independent of the results, we’re always happy at the end of the day. Buchecha helped me a lot. I love the guy; he’s a really good friend of mine today."
Adriano Moraes recalls one of his favorite ONE Championship memories
The former ONE flyweight world champion has had numerous memorable moments while competing in ONE Championship. However, some of his favorite memories have been spending time with the friends he has made. Moraes said:
“Our first ONE athlete retreat was amazing in Boracay. I remember it like it was yesterday. We traveled to Boracay. It was an amazing trip with the whole team. I made a lot of friends that I still have today. That’s one of the best memories that I had. And the fights, the guys that are supposed to be your enemies become your friends. It’s funny how the times go, and the real heroes stay. I appreciate it.”
The 34-year-old has an opportunity to make another longstanding memory when he faces Demetrious Johnson in the third leg of their trilogy at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video in May.
Make sure to watch ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5 to watch the third meeting between flyweights Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson, live from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
