Conor McGregor is easily the biggest draw in mixed martial arts history. While his stardom rubbed off on training partner Dillon Danis, Gordon Ryan, arguably the best grappler on the planet, believes that friendship may have ruined Danis' career.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Ryan questioned how Danis stays relevant before stating:
"He was pretty well-respected as a brown belt. He won a lot of things at brown belt and he was a big prospect at black belt and then he had the falling out with Marcelo [Garcia] and then once he kind of got in with McGregor, that's when he started to fall apart. His popularity skyrocketed, but his career kind of fell apart from there."

"He was pretty well-respected coming up through brown belt. Everyone thinks that he's this bada** - well now, I've been dying to actually say this on a big podcast, Dillon Danis has a record in jiu-jitsu since [getting] black belt of 18 wins and 16 losses. He's not nearly as good at jiu-jitsu as people think he is."
Danis has not competed in grappling in over five years and has not competed in mixed martial arts in over three years. He will reportedly take place in an exhibition boxing match against YouTuber KSI.

Dillon Danis says Conor McGregor doesn't know about his boxing match
Dillon Danis has been inactive for over three years. However, he will become the latest MMA fighter to compete in an exhibition boxing bout. In a livestream on Twitch to promote the bout, Danis shared that Conor McGregor is unaware of his upcoming fight.
His opponent, YouTuber KSI, accused him of no longer being friends with the former double champ, stating:
"If you call him [Conor McGregor] right now, will he pick up? If you're there like, 'Hey yo, it's Danis,' Is he going to be like, 'Who? Who the f**k is Danis?' You used to be his b***h boy right?"
He then questioned if McGregor was even aware that Danis, his former training partner, was fighting. Danis responded:
"He doesn't know about the fight. He's not interested in me fighting a YouTuber. This is like little s**t. He's more worried when I fight MMA and I fight real fighters."
Danis' inactivity, combined with his social media trolling, has made him somewhat of an afterthought in the mixed martial arts community.
