Few would've predicted Terence Crawford's junior middleweight debut would be a close fight. However, Uzbekistan star Israil Madrimov gave Bud a run for his money. Now, many, including Teofimo Lopez, believe the four-division champion will be no match for Canelo Alvarez.
This past weekend, Crawford captured the WBA junior middleweight title with a unanimous decision win over Madrimov. Interestingly, this was the 36-year-old's first decision win since 2016.
Many were unhappy with the scorecards for the fight and felt 'The Dream' deserved the judges' nod. Regardless of public sentiment, 'Bud' is still undefeated and holds a record of 41-0.

The world now patiently awaits the American star's next fight announcement. Among the few pugilistic stars of Crawford's stature is Alvarez, and fight fans have been clamoring for the pair to duke it out for a long time. However, Lopez believes 'Bud' would be better off not facing the Mexican:
"The age is catching up to Crawford, age is catching up to Crawford. I would love to get Crawford now before it catches [up] to him later on... All I can say now is, let's see what he does next. I don't think he should fight Canelo, I think he should fight the guy that is coming up next, Teofimo."

Eddie Hearn slams judges for "waste of time" scorecards in favor of Terence Crawford
Among those who felt Israil Madrimov was robbed against Terence Crawford, no one was more furious than 'The Dream's' promoter, Eddie Hearn. The boxing promoter was particularly offended by judge Fernando Villarreal's scorecard which saw the fight a 116-112 in favor of the American.
During the post-fight interview, the Matchroom Boxing chairman slammed the scorecards, calling them a "waste of time." As Hearn sees it, 'Bud' didn't do enough to get the win:
"It's a waste of time. It's not a 116-112 fight. He [Madrimov] was in the fight, he was coming into the fight as a champion, but because he is fighting Terence Crawford he doesn't get a shake. All of the effective punches were coming from Israil Madrimov... It was a super close fight. I believe when you come into that ring as a champion you've got to take the belt off that champion. Terence Crawford didn't do that."
