Akbar Abdullaev has one of the most impressive records of anyone on the ONE Championship roster.

The 27-year old has a perfect pro resume of 11-0, with all of his wins coming by way of finish. During his time in ONE, he has shown that he is a ruthless finisher who only needs to find the right moment once in order to close the show.

His next outing will prove to be his toughest test to date when he faces Tang Kai in the main event of ONE Fight Night 27 though he will not be able to win the ONE featherweight world championship following the weigh-ins.

Though the Chinese champion has questioned the level of opposition that his challenger has faced, Abdullaev is confident that it is his approach that has made him so dominant up until this point.

He spoke in an interview with ONE Championship about how his preparations and mentality are they keys to his success:

"I have a good base and foundation, and I always try to show it. I've had a lot of losses in my amateur career, and since judges could give a win to my opponent and leave me without gold, I try to win ahead of time."

Akbar Abdullaev could find himself in deep waters

As he said himself, Akbar Abdullaev is not a fan of letting the judges get involved at the end of the fight.

Whilst his opponent has also produced an impressive amount of finishes during his winning streak in ONE, Tang Kai is also a very patient competitor who sticks to a game plan.

Abdullaev will need to be prepared to fight into the later rounds on January 10 at Lumpinee Stadium.

What he can't afford to do is become too focused on head hunting that the fight starts to slip away from him because breaking the champion out of his groove won't be easy.

ONE Fight Night 27 will be available to all active Amazon Prime Video subscribers in North America live in U.S. primetime for free.
