Alex Pereira and Daniel Cormier engaged in a hilarious back-and-forth during a recent interview.

'DC' was interviewing the light heavyweight champion ahead of his title defense this weekend at UFC 307, when he suddenly realized 'Poatan' owed him money from a bet they made earlier this year.

The Brazilian had placed a $5,000 wager with 'DC' on Brazil winning against the USA in a recent football game. The concerned game transpired on June 12, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Seeing as Brazil didn't win, but merely drew against the USA, Cormier said:

"He owes me $5,000. He owes me because I said, USA when they play Brazil in soccer, he thinks Brazil beat USA remember?... and it was tied. Give me my money."

'Poatan' initially tried to shrug off the bet citing Brazil technically never lost. However, since the game was a draw, the pair eventually came to a reasonable agreement, both men would contribute $5,000 each to a charity of the other's choice.

Alex Pereira is set to defend his title against Khalil Rountree Jr. this Saturday at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is his third fight of the year, making him one of the most active champions in the promotion.

Alex Pereira proposes a wager to Khalil Rountree Jr.

Alex Pereira is one of the best strikers in the world. Few MMA fighters who have chosen to stand up with him have been successful. Hence, it is only natural for 'Poatan' to doubt Khalil Rountree Jr. when the American says he doesn't plan to shoot takedowns against him.

In the lead-up to UFC 307, 'The War Horse' has been quite vocal about his intentions to not grapple with his opponent come fight night. The challenger believes he is good enough to beat 'Poatan' on the feet.

While Pereira doesn't buy his opponent's proclamations, he has an idea to encourage Rountree to stay true to his words. Talking to Daniel Cormier, 'Poatan' said:

"If he is really sure, why don't he do... a bet. Come here and say. ''DC', I'll bet part of my purse for charity if I shoot a double leg on this guy [Pereira].' Then I believe, otherwise I don't."
