Alex Pereira hits trademark pose as he releases statement after winning 2024 Fighter of the Year

Alex Pereira recently hit his trademark pose and released a statement following his 2024 Fighter of the Year award win. The Brazilian certainly deserved the honor and expressed his gratitude toward his team for assisting him.

'Poatan' had quite a year in the UFC this year as he constantly answered the call from the promotion, even on vacation, and helped save their major pay-per-view events when they required a last-minute replacement.

The first call came earlier in the year when promotion was scrambling for a suitable headliner for UFC 300, which saw the Brazilian successfully defend his title against Jamahal Hill. Two months later, Pereira once again saved the day as he defended his title on short notice and headlined International Fight Week.

From there, 'Poatan' closed out his year of competition by earning a fourth-round TKO over Khalil Rountree at UFC 307. He was officially named 2024 MMA Fighter of the Year at the World MMA Awards and shared his reaction on social media.

Pereira posted a photo of his trademark bow and arrow pose with his newly won award, along with a caption thanking his support system:

"2024 Fighter of the year. Thank you God. Thank you team."

Alex Pereira shares inspirational message during 2024 Fighter of the Year award acceptance speech

Alex Pereira has had an inspirational journey to superstardom as it is well documented that he came from humble beginnings in Brazil before becoming a two-division Glory Kickboxing champion and later a two-division UFC champion.

During his acceptance speech for his 2024 Fighter of the Year award, Pereira took the opportunity to share words of wisdom for others to remain committed to achieving their dreams:

"I want to look back to three years ago when I first joined the UFC. A lot of people doubted me, a lot of people said that I wouldn't make it. You know, I went through a lot, a lot of good things have happened. And now I'm here and now I'm getting this award, so thank you...When somebody tells you, 'You cannot do it', don't listen to them. Never give up on your dreams."
