Alex Pereira recently took a dig at Jamahal Hill following his title defense at UFC 307. Pereira cited their previous encounter as a hilarious remark to Hill yawning during the pay-per-view event, which was held on Saturday (Oct. 5) at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Pereira headlined for the sixth time in his UFC tenure following his promotional debut in 2021. The Brazilian made his third light heavyweight title defense against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307. He entered the octagon with a second-round TKO win over Jiri Prochazka in their rematch at UFC 303. Meanwhile, Rountree Jr. received his first shot at the title following his third-round knockout victory against Anthony Smith at UFC Vegas 83 last year.
Rountree Jr. caused some problems for Pereira early in the fight after the reigning champion was dropped to his knees in Round 2 after missing a head kick. Despite the American's limited success, Pereira's powerful jabs wounded and bruised 'The War Horse's face throughout the contest.
Finally, near the end of the fourth round, 'Poatan' put Rountree Jr. to the canvas with powerful strikes to the body, prompting the referee to call off the fight.
