Fans reacted to Alex Pereira's hint about a fight announcement in a recent social media post. Pereira defended the UFC light heavyweight title three times in 2024. While No.1-ranked Magomed Ankalaev is expected to challenge him next, Pereira has shown interest in facing heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

In a recent Instagram story, Pereira mentioned that he was heading home, presumably from a medical facility, and promised "Good news" soon.

"On way back to my home. Good news. Fire up [Chama]." [Translated from Portuguese]

Heavyweight champion Jon Jones has expressed a desire to fight a highly accomplished veteran fighter like Alex Pereira in a mega fight. After his UFC 309 win over Stipe Miocic in November 2024, he reaffirmed the stance. However, rumors about Jones considering retirement have been circulating online, sparked by Joe Rogan's recent comments on the topic in a podcast episode.

Magomed Ankalaev recently responded to Alex Pereira's post claiming he was not fighting the Dagestani fighter next

While speaking to Submission Radio in 2024, Magomed Anakalaev's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, stated that the UFC had promised to arrange a fight between the winners of Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree Jr. and Magomed Ankalaev vs. Aleksandar Rakic.

Both Pereira and Ankalaev won the respective bouts. However, Pereira took to X in December 2024, suggesting that he might not fight Ankalaev next.

"It won’t be Ankalaev!"

Recently, Ankalaev responded to Pereira's remark in an X post, writing:

"@AlexPereiraUFC you going to do what you been told. You are an employee. See you soon."

Pereira has not competed since handing Khalil Rountree Jr. a fourth-round TKO loss at UFC 307. Meanwhile, Ankalaev has relentlessly campaigned for a title shot since defeating Aleksandar Rakic by unanimous decision at UFC 308.
