UFC light-heavyweight champ Alex Pereira has been seen rocking the new UFC Project Rock shoes with mixed results. As it turned out, not everyone on the UFC roster is feeling the latest iteration of the UFC-Dwayne Johnson footwear collaboration.
One such fighter who's not quite happy with the new UFC Project Rock shoes is outspoken UFC welterweight Philip Rowe, who posted about it on Instagram, saying:
"The fact that MULTIPLE @ufc fighters wear these atrocities out in public with what they feel is a “Fresh” ensemble is absolutely crazy to me. The “Brama bull 12’s”… Straight up NASTY work. I rather sit my bare 🍑 on a public toilet seat. These are to mow the lawn and cut grass only. #PhillyFresh #DemSoonFindOut #UFC #MmA #Comedy #NastyWork

An Instagram user who goes by @simhotep commented:
"The fact that you even have these is a problem. I hope they went in the trash after this photo was taken lol"
Rowe hilariously replied and mentioned Pereira, saying:
"I’ve seen Poatan rock these joints with a whole gucci fit. 😂😂😂 I’d never in a million years call him out on it."
Jiri Prochazka gives insight on outcome of potential Alex Pereira vs. Magomed Ankalaev bout
One guy who wouldn't mind his thoughts on Alex Pereira is the man who faced him twice for the belt, former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka. This time, however, the Czech fighter is siding with 'Poatan' in his potential clash with top-ranked Dagestan fighter Magomed Ankalaev.
At the moment, Ankalaev is speculated to be the toughest challenge for Pereira inside the octagon, given his Dagestani wrestling background. Apart from this, Ankalaev's striking has proven to be just as dangerous as his grappling.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Prochazka gave a rather interesting take on whether or not Ankalev has a strong chance of beating Pereira:
"I think, no. Especially if he [Ankalaev] fights - like he said - just in stand-up. Sorry, no. If Alex [Pereira] will be in his shape like what he showed in his last fight, 100% no."
Since Prochazka fought 'Poatan' twice and was knocked out on both occasions, he has significant knowledge of just how dangerous is the Brazilian's striking prowess. Ankalaev can be expected to shoot for that takedown right away.
