Alexis Nicolas is set to compete in the biggest fight of his career to date when he returns to Lumpinee Stadium on Oct. 4.

After earning a debut win under the ONE Championship banner, the French striker went on to shock the world in his second bout with the promotion. He became the ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion in the main event of ONE Fight Night 21.

The champion, Regian Eersel, had gone undefeated for a long time but was unable to turn the fight in his favor after a strong start from his last challenger.

The two men will now meet again in a rematch at ONE Fight Night 25. where Nicolas fully intends to keep hold of the title.

He believes that the scorecards were the right call on that night and now looks to improve upon his own performance, telling Sportskeeda MMA in a recent interview:

"I was better that day, and I will be better the next time we meet. So I think it was the right decision, I would have scored it the same way. I'm better now, I hope he got better as well."

Alexis Nicolas has foundations that he can build on

In his fight with Regian Eersel earlier this year, the key to winning the fight for Alexis Nicolas was putting his stamp on the fight early on.

A second-round knockdown ended up being the deciding factor for him, and that gives Nicolas lots of room to work.

He knows that he has the power to cause his opponent problems, and now he can look to implement that more effectively and compete better in the later rounds.

The former champion has a tough task in front of him to try and reclaim the belt, especially with Nicolas being more confident than ever before.

ONE Fight Night 25 will air live in US primetime free of charge for Prime Vidoe subscribers in North America.
