Alexis Nicolas plans to maintain the "same preparation line" for his upcoming rematch against Regian Eersel. Six months ago, Nicolas skyrocketed his value in ONE Championship by dethroning Eersel of the lightweight kickboxing world title. \

Nicolas now looks to defend his throne for the first time in an immediate rematch against Eersel, which goes down in the ONE Fight Night 25 main event on Friday, Oct. 4.

During an interview with ONE, Nicolas discussed the preparations for his upcoming fight against Eersel. The reigning lightweight kickboxing king had this to say about training with the same mindset throughout his combat sports career:

"I keep the same preparation line for all my fights. I do the best for myself, with my team. I train hard, I do what I do. I know how to do it and I love boxing. So it's not hard for me. It's just my passion, you know?"

Regian Eersel looks to utilize newfound "hunger" in rematch against Alexis Nicolas

Before fighting Alexis Nicolas, Regian Eersel held an undefeated promotional record of 7-0 in kickboxing and 3-0 in Muay Thai. Eersel recently spoke with ONE to discuss how his loss against Nicolas added "extra fire" to his level of motivation to succeed, something that world champions can lose with too much success:

"I got my hunger back. And I noticed it in the fight when I was hurting him and he was running away, I had the extra fire to go through the pain and put more and more pressure on him."

Eersel followed up by saying:

"So I learned I have more fire inside of me, and I learned I have to think and be smarter than him in the next fight."

Regian Eersel will go down as one of the greatest strikers in promotional history, regardless of the result at ONE Fight Night 25. With that said, the Suriname-born fighter has plenty of gas left in the tank to regain his two-sport world champion status and continue building on his legendary resume.
