Speaking on his YouTube channel, FunkMasterMMA, Sterling stated:

"I think Gane has the footwork that Jones has never seen before, and he's big... It's not like he's [Jones] fighting [Dominick] Reyes, who's kind of a little unorthodox. Gane is very technical, he stabs at his opponents, he probes, gets in, gets out. The biggest advantage for Jones in this fight is his championship caliber - that experience - and his wrestling acumen."

Sterling continued:

"I think that [wrestling and experience] is going to be something that he's [Jones] going to heavily have to rely on. I'm not saying he can't strike with Ciryl Gane, but you have to imagine the longer the fight stays on the feet in those first, second, and third rounds, I think it's more in the favor of Gane. If Jon is mixing in takedowns, it makes it more tricky."

Jones has shown that he possesses the skills to dominate both on the feet and on the ground.

However, former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou laid out the blueprint to defeating Gane when he handed him the only loss of his career at UFC 270.

Despite fighting with a torn ACL and not being nearly as skilled at wrestling as Jon Jones, Ngannou was able to repeatedly take down the Frenchman.

Jon Jones opens up on decision to train with Henry Cejudo

Jon Jones has been training with Henry Cejudo ahead of his heavyweight debut. The long-time light heavyweight champion recently shared some insight as to why he has been training with the former double champ:

"I started training with Henry over a year ago... Henry is just so intelligent. He’s such a great leader and tactician, and it’s just been great... Henry is just super passionate about MMA. It’s the details, you know, angles, and it’s really just the details... I’d love to have Henry coaching me for this Ciryl Gane fight. Hopefully our schedules can align and we can get on the same page, and he could be one of my corners."

Jones has not fought since February 2020, when he defeated Dominick Reyes to defend his light heavyweight title. He will look to become a two-division champion and solidify his legacy as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time.
