Aljamain Sterling has given Sean O'Malley the credit he deserves following an impressive performance against Petr Yan.
The fight between O'Malley and Yan went to a split decision, and many felt Yan had done enough to win. But two of the judges went with 'Sugar', causing controversy.
In O'Malley's post-fight interview, he admitted he would need to watch the fight before giving his opinion on who won. 'Sugar' has now taken the time to watch the fight and took to Twitter to reveal that he thinks he won the fight.
'Funk Master' quote-tweeted O'Malley's tweet and said that maybe 'Sugar' really is as good as he says he is.

"I still need to watch it. We all saw it competitive and close but gave Yan the edge. But I was warming up and focusing on how to close the distance on TJ. Who knows. Maybe you really the number 1 guy"

With Aljamain Sterling's next opponent unclear, 'Sugar' could be next in line for a shot at the title.
The winner of Yan vs. O'Malley was initially meant to get the next title shot, according to Dana White. However, the manner in which 'Sugar' won the fight may cause the UFC to change plans.
Aljamain Sterling thinks UFC wants to book Henry Cejudo matchup in desperate attempt to dethrone him
Aljamain Sterling tied the record for most consecutive UFC bantamweight title defenses in a row with his victory against TJ Dillashaw. 'Funk Master' currently sits on two consecutive title defenses, and a third victory would see him make history.
Since Sterling's victory over Dillashaw at UFC 280, rumors of a bout with former two-division champion Henry Cejudo have begun to emerge.
'Funk Master' appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to discuss what the future holds for the champion. Sterling pointed out that initially, his next opponent was meant to be the winner of Petr Yan vs. Sean O'Malley.
Now the UFC are talking about a fight with 'Triple C' instead. In Sterling's opinion, the UFC are making a 'desperate' attempt to find someone that could beat him.
"He's supposed to come back and get an immediate title shot after doing what? You know what I mean. Now I almost feel like, and I could be completely wrong, but I almost feel like they're looking for a last hope of someone who can take out Aljamain Sterling."
