Henry Cejudo demanded the bantamweight title shot right after Aljamain Sterling defended it against T.J. Dillashaw in the UFC 280 co-main event.

Sterling became the first UFC champion of Jamaican origin when he won the bantamweight championship at UFC 259. 'Funk Master' recently made his second successful title defense and was met with Cejudo's tweet that took aim at his Jamaican ancestry:

"Yo @danawhite give me the next title shot! Let’s bring this title back to America [American flag]"

Aljamain Sterling disapproved of 'Triple C's approach to promoting the fight by referencing another tweet that criticized Cejudo:

"I like Henry, but this is 100% spot on!! I really don’t even think he’s intentionally doing it, which makes it the sad part. This narrative he’s trying to paint is just a complete turn off on multiple levels. We can find another way to build a fight. This ain’t it."

Sterling also addressed Cejudo's tweet during the UFC 280 post-fight press conference:

"Well, the title is in America, you bonehead. What are you talking about? I'm an American citizen. My parents are Jamaican... Their parents were born in Jamaica as well. I'm first generation Jamaican-American, stop saying that stupid s**t. I'm a proud American, I'm proud of my roots in Jamaica as well."

Dana White suggests Henry Cejudo as potential opponent for Aljamain Sterling

Henry Cejudo's tweet had its desired effect as Dana White himself named him as a potential opponent for the reigning bantamweight king. In the UFC 280 post-fight press conference, the UFC president stated who might face Aljamain Sterling next:

“What about Henry Cejudo? That work? You like that? You know, Henry’s been out there talking and he wants to come back... How long has he been back in the USADA pool? Six months? Yeah, so you know, he could fight. So maybe you do him and Aljamain Sterling next.”

The former bantamweight and flyweight champion did not lose either of his belts. He relinquished both of them when he retired after TKO'ing Dominick Cruz at UFC 249.
