Aljamain Sterling has been subjected to a large amount of hate from fans during his UFC tenure. But during a recent podcast appearance, the former champion recalled one incident that occurred in 2023 in Australia, where he nearly came to blows with a fan.
'Funk Master' recently appeared on Eric Nicksick's podcast, Verse Us, where Sterling recounted a tense incident with a fan whilst Down Under for Sean Strickland's fight with Israel Adesanya at UFC 293.
The featherweight contender discussed the details of the story in reference to Merab Dvalishvili's recent confrontation with a fan at the Craig Jones Invitational. He said:
"Someone was like, 'O'Malley slept ya!' O'Malley slept ya!'... I come back over and I go, 'Was that you?' He was like, 'Yeah.' He's over here getting lippy infront of his friends so he's thinking it's cute... I pretty much just told him, 'You should be respectful when you come to these things, 'cause you never know what could happen to you.'"

He continued:
"I was trying to get him to come to the bathroom, because I was gonna f**k his world up. I swear on my life. I was like, you think I'm wrestling you? I'm gonna beat the piss out of you in this f**king bathroom. And he just disappeared."

Aljamain Sterling irked by UFC's special treatment of Sean O'Malley
Aljamain Sterling was dethroned by Sean O'Malley as the bantamweight king when the pair clashed at UFC 292.
Following his defeat, Sterling confirmed that he would be moving to featherweight, partly to make way for his close friend and teammate, Merab Dvalishvili, who had been on the cusp of a title shot since his title reign.
Many expected Dvalishvili to face O'Malley in his first title defense. However, the promotion decided to cash in on Marlon Vera, the only man to hold a win over 'Sugar' in MMA.
The pair clashed at UFC 299, with O'Malley dominating his opponent from start to finish en route to a decision win.
He will now face Dvalishvili at UFC 306, and 'Funk Master' recently shared frustration at the promotions treatment of O'Malley.
During his aforementioned podcast appearance, he said:
"O'Malley could go on to be a great champion, but for him to go on and fight the No.6 ranked guy in 'Chito' and putting on a clinic, okay great. But again, stacking the deck in favorably matchups... He should have fought Merab first, before fighting 'Chito'." [36:05-36:25 in Aljamain Sterling's aforementioned video]
