Aljamain Sterling has shared his prediction on a potential rematch with Sean O’Malley. Both former bantamweight champions currently compete in different divisions, and O'Malley would have to move up to featherweight if they were to run it back.
At UFC 292, 'Funk Master' faced 'Sugar' and was dethroned as he lost the bout via TKO in the opening minute of round two. This loss ended his long nine-fight win streak. After losing his bantamweight strap, Sterling moved to featherweight and fought twice: winning his 145-pound UFC debut against Calvin Kattar before losing to unbeaten Russian Movsar Evloev.
Meanwhile, O’Malley was dethroned by Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306. He has since taken a break and is expected to return later this year. Sterling recently featured on the OverDogs podcast and talked about a potential rematch, predicting a victory:
"O’Malley showed up that night. It was an off night for myself and the better man won that night. That’s why we say anyplace, anywhere, anytime. And sometimes it’s your night and sometimes it’s not and unfortunately for me it just didn’t go my way. But I do know if I had a rematch I would bet by live savings on that.”

Aljamain Sterling believes he could fight for the title next
Former bantamweight king Aljamain Sterling, who has 16 wins in the UFC and has three successful title defenses in his career so far, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Movsar Evloev at UFC 310.
Sterling, however, believes that he can be next in line to fight for the UFC interim title after featherweight champion Ilia Topuria revealed his plans to move to lightweight and challenge Islam Makhachev.
'Funk Master', after hearing Topuria’s plans, posted on X:
"Based on the landscape of the division, It should be a rematch with me and Movsar for the belt."

However, 'El Matador' later made it clear that he would not leave the title vacant to secure a second title at 155 pounds.
