Aljamain Sterling recently targeted a bout against another top-ranked featherweight for his next bout as he looks to bounce back from his loss to Movsar Evloev. He highlighted areas in his own skillset and expressed interest in putting it to the test at 145 pounds.
The former bantamweight champion remains committed to achieving double-champion status and could get his name back in the title picture with an impressive win. Despite his loss, there were many in the MMA community who believed Sterling should have been awarded the decision instead, so his goal is still very much a realistic one.
During his latest appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, 'Funk Master' named Arnold Allen as an ideal opponent for his next bout at 145 pounds. Sterling mentioned that he believes he matches up well with the No.7 ranked featherweight and wants to test his striking:
"It would be nice to shake it up with Arnold Allen. I think he's a tough striker and believe it or not, I'm interested in seeing what my striking game looks like at [145-pounds] with a guy like that because I don't have to force the wrestling or worry about being taken down as much...I think it gives me an opportunity to work on my striking at this point of my career and see where my striking is actually at."

Aljamain Sterling believes Arnold Allen bout would be appealing to fans
In addition to expressing interest in fighting Arnold Allen in his next bout, Aljamain Sterling said that he believes it would be an appealing matchup to fans.
During the aforementioned appearance, Sterling mentioned that he gained more confidence in his striking during his recent bout against Movsar Evloev and believes he can showcase that against Allen:
"We worked so much on the stand-up [for Evloev fight]...and it just ended up being a big grappling fight. And I think with Arnold [Allen], now that I have the comfortability of knowing in the back of my mind that he's not going to be looking to actively take me down, I think I could have some chance to show the world my striking. I think it'd be a fun fight."
