Some may think that because he's always extremely confident it could leave gaps in his physical and mental preparation.

Brooks is always out to prove that he's the best but getting his hand raised by any means is always the main goal on fight night.

Heading into ONE Fight Night 24, he's been doing his homework before he collides with Gustavo Balart in the main event.

In a recent interview with Sherdog.com, Brooks spoke about how being a student first and foremost has been a key part of his martial arts journey.

He reflected on how he became a fan of MMA through watching old events back with his father and breaking them down:

"My dad would go into Blockbuster and get the old DVDs, and that's all we would do. I'm so analytical to studying my opponents because since I was 6, all we did was record and sit down and watch to get better, not just physically but mentally."

Jarred Brooks knows he's in for a tough test

After doing his homework on Gustavo Balart ahead of August 2, Jarred Brooks came to the conclusion that he's a very worthy opponent.

The Cuban competitor brings a strong wrestling pedigree to the table and power in his hands which makes him a tough style to deal with.

This only motivates Brooks more to go out there and put on a show to prove once again that he's on another level to the rest of the division.

A win takes him one step closer to reclaiming his title in what would be a huge trilogy and unification fight with Joshua Pacio.

ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
