"All the smoke" - Fans abuzz as Dustin Poirier name-drops potential opponents for his next fight

UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier has weighed in on possible opponents for his next appearance inside the octagon. 'The Diamond' recently made an appearance on the Anik & Florian podcast, hosted by UFC commentator Jon Anik and former UFC fighter Kenny Florian.

At one point during the chat, Anik listed several high profile fighters and asked Poirier whether his next opponent could be one of the names mentioned.

"Do you believe your next opponent will come out of this batch of names, okay? Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor, Alexander Volkanovski, Justin Gaethje, Max Holloway, Charles Oliveira, Colby Covington."

Poirier responded that in case he decided to fight again, it will 'definitely' be against one of the names mentioned by Anik.

"100%... Yeah, for sure. If I do fight again, and when I do fight again, it'll definitely be one of those guys you just said."

Dustin Poirier has already faced some of the fighters mentioned by Jon Anik

Dustin Poirier is a UFC veteran and has been sharing the cage with high-level fighters for a long time. Out of the names mentioned by Jon Anik in the Anik & Florian podcast, 'The Diamond' has already fought Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje, Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira.

Poirier had three fights with McGregor and ended up winning two of them. He and Gaethje have locked horns twice and are currently 1-1, with both scoring a knockout victory over each other.

'The Diamond' and Holloway have shared the octagon on two occasions and in both encounters, Poirier got his hand raised in the end.

The Louisiana native fought Oliveira for the lightweight title at UFC 269. Poirier came up short that night and lost the fight via third-round submission.
