Reigning ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues is confident of taking head-on the strong challenge coming from interim world champion Janet Todd in their unification bout next week.
The two will collide in the co-main event at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video on March 24 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for the right to be crowned undisputed world champion.
Speaking to ONE Championship, Brazilian Allycia Hellen Rodrigues shared that she expects American Janet Todd to pack the heat come fight night. However, she was quick to assert that it is nothing she has not seen before and she is confident of successfully fending it off.

The Phuket Fight Club fighter said:
“Janet is a dangerous fighter. She has good punches and kicks and is very fast. I think she's a great striker, but I'm used to that kind of pressure. We're going to fight Muay Thai, and here in Thailand we clinch a lot every day. That's something I'm definitely going to take advantage of over her.”
Allycia Hellen Rodrigues will be making her first world title defense since becoming world champion in 2020. After being crowned the division's queen, she took a break to give birth and take care of her son.
Todd, meanwhile, is on a mission to become a two-sport ONE world champion by adding the atomweight Muay Thai gold to the ONE atomweight kickboxing world title she already holds.
The Rodrigues-Todd unification bout was originally set to take place late last year, but with 'JT' contracting COVID-19, it had to be postponed.

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues says she will enter Janet Todd fight a better fighter with ample preparation
Reigning ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues is confident of her chances in her unification bout with interim world champion Janet Todd later this month despite the long break she had after giving birth to her son.
The Brazilian will finally make her first world title defense on March 24 at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video in Singapore, nearly three years after she became the world champion.
Allycia Hellen Rodrigues defeated former world champion Stamp Fairtex by split decision in her promotional debut in August 2020. However, she subsequently chose to start a family, which kept her out of competition for some time.
Despite the long break, the Phuket Fight Club affiliate believes that the time away has only made her a better fighter, affording her an extended period to prepare for this big moment in her career against Janet Todd.
She told ONE Championship in an interview:
“I certainly had more time to work on some things and improve others that I already felt comfortable doing.”
ONE Fight Night 8 will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and will be headlined by the all-Thai clash for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title between reigning champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 and No.1-ranked contender Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
