After winning the atomweight Muay Thai world championship three years ago, Allycia Hellen Rodrigues captured undisputed gold this past weekend at ONE Fight Night 8.
On her ONE Championship debut, the Brazilian shocked the world and dethroned Stamp Fairtex to become the new ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion. Shortly after, she announced that she would be taking some time away from competition to give birth to her first child.
At ONE Fight Night 8, Rodrigues jumped right back into a world title unification match against interim titleholder Janet Todd. She was successful, shaking off any of the cobwebs that came with her three-year gap.
Not only did Rodrigues cement her rightful place at the top of the division, proving that her win over Stamp was not a fluke, she earned a new ONE world championship belt.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post, she spoke about one aspect of the fight that many wouldn’t have considered; holding both the old and the new world championship belts:
“I’m really happy because I have the old one, and now I have the new one. And I just want to take a little bit of time off and stay with my son, and come back for my next fight.”

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues shows her devastating “mom-power” against Janet Todd
With her return to competition at ONE Fight night 8, Allycia Hellen Rodrigues made her return to the Circle as a mum.
In her atomweight Muay Thai world title unification clash with Janet Todd, Rodrigues landed a devastating elbow strike that swung the momentum of the contest in her favor.
After a tense atmosphere in the first two rounds, Rodrigues had her back up against the wall, but she managed to dominate the next three frames to win the fight.
ONE Championship posted the slicing elbow strike on Instagram alongside the caption:
“Allycia Hellen Rodrigues cuts DEEP 😳 What’s next for the UNDISPUTED ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion? 👑 @allycia_phuketfightclub”
Rodrigues’ performance was very similar to her debut against Stamp Fairtex despite having three years away from competition.
Just like her ONE Championship debut, she showed her championship heart and determination to turn the fight around and end it on top, winning both via decision. It was a triumphant return for the Brazilian, who appears to have not lost a step through the three years she has been away.
