ONE atomweight Muay Thai champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues will make her long-awaited return to the circle at ONE on Prime Video 5. The Brazilian native is hoping to pick up where she left off prior to going on maternity leave.
Rodrigues is making her first appearance since defeating Stamp Fairtex via majority decision in August 2020. Incredibly, she challenged and dethroned the former atomweight Muay Thai queen in her ONE debut.
The striker recently took to Instagram to relay her thanks to her Muay Thai trainer:
"Leo Elias was one of the first people I told that I was pregnant. I was already scheduled to fight soon at first, but I remember his encouraging words saying that everything that was going to happen to me was going to strengthen and motivate me. At the beginning was very difficult, every day is difficult, but leaving the gym and feeling good not only the body but mentally is also something I thought was going to be impossible but this guy has been helping me make this possible. I will be back at the best version of me. ☝🏼🙏🏼"

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues draws inspiration from her mom
Now a mother herself, Rodrigues doesn't believe she'd be where she is today without the inspiration from her mother.
She told the promotion:
“My biggest inspiration is not someone from the sport, but someone from my life. My mother is my greatest example of strength and determination. The most warrior and feisty person I know. So, my biggest source of inspiration couldn't be anyone else but her.”
Rodrigues will not get the benefit of getting her feet wet following her extended hiatus, as her opponent will bring the fight to her from the opening bell.
