Allycia Hellen Rodrigues punishes the pads in open workout session

ONE women's atomweight Muay Thai world champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues is primed and ready to make her long-awaited return at ONE Fight Night 8. Her main event world title unification bout against interim queen Janet Todd will be Rodigues' first defense of her throne.

It's been two and a half years since we last saw Allycia Hellen Rodrigues in action and some might say that ring rust will be an issue come fight night. This doesn't seem to be the case at open workouts.

ONE released a video of the world champ hitting the pads and it looks like she hasn't missed a beat despite being on hiatus for a long time:

Judging from the hooks and elbows she's connecting, it looks like Rodrigues is going to look to nullify Janet Todd's rangy attacks by ripping her inside the pocket. Look to see the Brazilian close the distance and impose her clinch game on her American opponent.

ONE Championship releases preview video of unification bout between Janet Todd and Allycia Hellen Rodrigues

It's been two-and-a-half years since we saw ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion Allycia Helle Rodrigues devastate fan-favorite Stamp Fairtex for the belt. After a lengthy absence from the sport, the Brazilian world champion will defend her crown in a unification bout against the woman who has taken her throne in her absence, Janet Todd.

While Allycia Hellen Rodrigues was on hiatus due to her pregnancy and the birth of her child, Janet Todd has been busy dominating two sports in ONE. ‘JT’, who already owns the ONE atomweight kickboxing world title, scored wins over Alma Juniku and Anne Line Hogstad under Muay Thai rules. She then earned a ONE interim world title bout against WBC Muay Thai world champion Lara Fernandez.

Todd made easy work of the Spanish newcomer, earning a unanimous decision victory to set up a massive world title unification bout. She’ll attempt to become just the second female two-sport champion in the organization. Watch the two world champions collide live on Friday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for ONE Fight Night 8.
