Amanda Ribas has issued a statement following her loss to Mackenzie Dern at UFC Vegas 101. Dern avenged the first loss of her MMA career by winning the strawweight headliner by a third-round armbar submission.
Their first meeting took place in 2019, which saw Ribas win via unanimous decision. The loss this weekend has put the 31-year-old Brazilian on a two-fight losing streak for the first time in her career, taking her pro-MMA record to 13 wins and six losses.
Despite suffering her second consecutive defeat, Ribas exuded positivity with her social media post. Her caption read:
"Off to the next one! Thanks to all the support, messages and barbecues that you've done 😊 #Deusnocomando 📸 @chrisungerphotography"

Mackenzie Dern commends Amanda Ribas as a "tough fighter"
Mackenzie Dern lauded Amanda Ribas for proving to be a "tough" fighter in their clash. In the post-fight octagon interview, addressing her win, the 31-year-old American-Brazilian mixed martial artist stated:
"I’m happy. I wanted to get my submission record higher but I’m trying to get better at my striking, trying to better at takedowns. We were able to get some takedowns. She is such a tough fighter, her judo too so it’s not good to be on my back, so lots of stuff to get better. But from five years ago to get this win was heavy on me."
She added:
"I don’t know it was like 20 seconds or 10 seconds you know and it sucks when you’re like so close from the time being over and then start back over and then have to kind to go through the whole process again. So to be able to get the tap I’m really happy."
