Andrew Tate remains incarcerated in a Romanian prison as he awaits trial after being arrested on charges of suspicion of human trafficking and rape. The controversial former kickboxer's lawyer, Tina Glandian, recently claimed that authorities may be incentivized to keep him in prison due to the assets they have seized.

Speaking to Shelagh Fogarty of the London Broadcasting Company (LBC), Glandian compared her client to a rap star. She was then asked if she expects things to be resolved soon, to which she replied:

"We're going to find out in the next several days. The existing order expires on February 27th, and if the prosecution intends to extend that for another 30 day period, they'll have to make that request soon and then we'll have a hearing on it. Obviously, our hope is that at this point they are released and it's not extended, but am I optimistic about that? No."

Glandian continued:

"An additional factor that weighs in is the tremendous amount of assets that have been seized. Almost four million dollars worth of assets were seized from their residence and unfortunately that gives the authorities incentive to search and find evidence of some wrongdoing to be able to forfeit and keep assets of that nature."

Glandian claimed that authorities had not found evidence of a crime yet seized Andrew Tate's assets with the hope that they would be able to make a crime stick. The Tate brothers have remained in custody for nearly two months.

Elon Musk's former employee calls for Andrew Tate's Twitter account to be removed

Andrew Tate was banned from nearly all social media platforms during the summer of 2022. Upon Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter, the controversial social media personality had his account reinstated. Dex Hunter-Torricke, who was the Chief of Communications at SpaceX, called for Tate's account to be removed once again, stating:

"There is content that is incredibly harmful. I think we need to look into it on a case by case basis. But certainly when there's a record, there's a track record, well built up, of incredibly harmful things being applied to a whole generation of people, we need to take action. We can't just be talking about it... There's a person here who has been spreading incredibly terrible, misogynistic, harmful content to lots of people."

Musk has labeled himself as an advocate of freedom of speech. However, there have been instances where he has banned Twitter users. As of this writing, Tate's Twitter account remains active.
