Angela Lee recalls near-fatal car crash that left her miraculously unscathed 

The story of Angela Lee getting into a horrific 2017 car crash and her inspiring return has resurfaced.

Lee’s nickname, ‘Unstoppable,’ perfectly represents the adversity she has overcome. From brutal injuries to fighting pneumonia, the 26-year-old is always ready to face obstacles thrown her way.

In 2017, the ONE atomweight world champion was preparing for a world title fight against Mei Yamaguchi when she suddenly found herself in a severe car crash. ONE Championship reposted the story with quotes from Lee narrating the incident.

Lee said she felt sleepy while driving, and the next thing she knew, the car was flipping over several times. The traumatic experience kept her from going back to the gym. In the caption, she said:

"It was so hard to go back into training because I felt very weak. I could not even step on the mat without crying. Everyone was like, ‘why are you crying so much?’ It is a lot to take in when you are not in the best state of mind.”

She said that watching her brother, Christian Lee, win in the circle put her mind and drive back to where it needed to be. She hopes that her story inspires others to rise above the adversity they face:

“I will not shy away from talking about my adversities anymore because I did not let them win. I rose above it, and now I am here today.”

Lee now has a new challenge to overcome. ‘Unstoppable’ dared to be great by attempting to become a two-division world champion against Xiong Jing Nan in September.

Despite losing the rematch, the ONE atomweight champion showed off her toughness and has plenty of time left in her career to try again.

Angela Lee shares inspiring Instagram post with baby daughter

After beating Xiong Jing Nan in October 2019, Angela Lee didn’t fight for two and a half years to start her family and give birth to a beautiful baby girl named Ava. Lee returned with a win against Stamp Fairtex in March. ‘Unstoppable’ has a pinned Instagram post holding her baby with the caption:

“My Reason. My Motivation. My Why. #MOMCHAMP #DOUBLECHAMP”

Little does Ava know that she is a member of a fighting family that includes ONE lightweight champion Christian, and 18-year-old rising superstar Victoria. Angela Lee has also mentioned in the past that she would support her daughter in fighting MMA.
